Learning in the Garden

Tuesday, April 14 at 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern Time

Join us for this FREE virtual inspiring and practical workshop on starting and sustaining a school garden!

Together, we’ll explore how school gardens can blossom into joyful, accessible learning spaces that nurture literacy, numeracy, science, well-being, and environmental stewardship from Kindergarten through the elementary years. You’ll walk away with adaptable strategies for a wide range of climates and school contexts, plus renewed confidence, fresh inspiration, and ready-to-use ideas to bring your school garden to life.

Accessibility in Outdoor Learning

Tuesday, May 12 at 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern Time

Join Julie Nowak, an accessibility consultant, as they provide a foundation on what accessibility truly is and how to create inclusive learning experiences in nature.

This workshop will explore Julie’s accessibility framework to guide educators on how to assess and create inclusive nature experiences, as well as how to support disabled and neurodivergent learners. Audience members are encouraged to come with all of their accessibility and inclusion questions! Julie’s favourite part of presenting is providing support during Q&A.

Indigenous Perspectives on Land-Based Education

Tuesday, June 9 at 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern Time

Join us for this FREE virtual inspiring and practical workshop to discuss how ‘Renewal’ can guide K–12 educators in bringing Indigenous voices and the philosophy, principles, and practices of Indigenous land-based education into their teaching and community.

Workshop attendees will learn how to respectfully renew their own relationships with land directly, engage students with the land – no matter where they are located and guide students in learning through observation, listening, and discussion.

Through critical engagement with diverse written and visual works created by Indigenous leaders, land defenders, scholars, and Knowledge Keepers, presenters will guide readers in connecting with Indigenous perspectives on land and water.

Spending time in nature, year round helps develop a sense of belonging. When we belong we feel connected, nourished, and alive. In this workshop our expert presenters will share ideas, activities and inspiration from their water, nature, Land and camp curriculums.

Teaching about Bird Life

Tuesday, August 11 at 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern Time

Join us for this FREE inspiring and practical virtual workshop to learn how we can teach about birds using a variety of tools, techniques, and technology.

Birds can be found in all learning environments, rural or urban. Join our panel of knowledgeable presenters who will share resources, both analogue and digital, for learning about birds in formal or informal education spaces. This workshop will also highlight the work of Joseph Pitawanakwat, Andrés Jiménez and Junaid Khan to support the regathering and the education of Anishinaabe bird names and significant Indigenous bird knowledge. Included in this are their Anishinaabe Bird Names Nature Guide and Anishinaabe Winter Bird Names Nature Guide.
