Help Support Our Work

Take Me Outside has been working to ensure that students across Canada are getting the opportunity to learn beyond the four walls of a classroom. As a registered nonprofit, we work collaboratively alongside other organizations, schools boards, and passionate individuals to help build outdoor learning into a regular part of each day.
This year is shaping up to be our biggest yet, with Take Me Outside Day growing into a week’s worth of activities and events from Oct 18th – 22nd, 2021. Registrations have already surpassed what we saw in 2020, and Dr. Jane Goodall is joining us live to engage directly to participants and answer questions, among many other inspiring speakers and fun activities for all ages.
This growth comes alongside a lot of hard work from a small team of staff supported by a dedicated board of directors. We’ve generally relied on grants and income from our merchandise for operations over the past decade. But in seeking growth and the ability to offer meaningful and impactful events and resources to our nation-wide audience, we need additional support from donors who are passionate about the cause.

Choose Your Donation

We use a Canadian-based platform called Simplyk to process donations, which eliminates transactions fees that would otherwise subtract from your contribution. Simplyk’s revenue comes from donors who choose to leave them a tip, which you will see as an option at the end of the transaction. You may also choose “Other” in the drop-down menu and enter $0 to opt out. Thank you for supporting Take Me Outside!

In October 2019, over 2000 schools participated in Take Me Outside Day, equaling over 200,000 individual participants. Over 1600 educators signed up to take this initiative further, committing to TMO’s Learning Challenge, taking their classes outdoors weekly throughout the year. February 2019 also marked the first year of our Winter Challenge, where 500+ schools participated with 76,000 estimated students exploring the fun of learning outside, no matter the season!

Despite the many challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, it also highlighted the many benefits of creating a classroom beyond four walls. We saw all of our initiatives grow over the year: We celebrated 10 years of Take Me Outside Day with over 225,000 students and teachers taking part across 3,300+ schools and more than 3000 educators participated in the Learning Challenge. This was the year we launched our learning library – accessible anytime for inspiration and ideas for teaching almost any subject outside. We also hosted a number of successful webinars highlighting various outdoor learning topics from inclusion to early childhood education to embracing winter. These workshops have continued in both spring and fall 2021, and are a valuable piece of our mission.
