2015 Take Me Outside Student Video Contest
The 2015 Take Me Outside Student Video Contest is excited to announce the winners! First off, we just want to thank a few folks. Mountain Equipment Co-op is the main sponsor of this contest and we’re really grateful for their support. They have donated some great prizes for the winners, helping students across this country get outside. We also want to thank the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival as well as Banff Lake Louise Tourism. The Festival is hosted each year in Banff, followed by a World Tour in over 40 countries, and showcases stories of adventure from around the world. The winning student entry will be screened in front of a sold out audience on the opening weekend of this Festival – very cool. And not only does the student film get shown, but the winner gets to be there! This is thanks to Banff Lake Louise Tourism, who provides airfare to Banff for the Festival. It truly is a remarkable Grand Prize to have the winner visit Canada’s oldest National Park! We also want to thank Caribou Properties and Banff Airporter for providing food and transportation to the winning student while in Banff. This community has truly supported this contest and is committed to engaging youth in exploring Canada’s amazing backyard.
And that’s exactly what this year’s theme was – Canada’s Backyard. We wanted students to show us why we have one of the best backyards in the world and how they like spending time in it. We had many great entries this year – thanks to our judges for making some tough decisions. There were two categories: grades 1-6 and grades 7-12.
The overall Grand Prize winner is Tao Werner! He’s from Comox, BC. Below is his winning entry!
Grade 7-12 category
The 2nd place winner is Rylan Davis from Toronto, ON
The 3rd place winner is Tayla Koerber from Revelstoke, BC.
Grade 1-6 category
1st place goes to Harper Rouse from Ladysmith, BC.
2nd place winner is Norah Massey from Almonte, ON

Again, thanks to students all across Canada for submitting their entries! We hope you’ll continue enjoying time outside in Canada’s backyard!
